Default Rotors

Ok im having a wheel shake at around 40-50 mph on my 04 GT. Everything under the sun has been checked, suspension, balance, rims, etc... My pro shop is telling me I have warped rotors and thats causing my wheel shake. Anyone had a similiar issue with rotors ?

I had the rotors warp on my truck. It caused it to shake quite a bit (at times I thought the front end might shake loose) when I applied the brakes but it was OK driving down the road. Does you car shake a lot more when the brakes are applied?

You might check this out yourself by jacking up the car and spinning the wheels.

Our 99-04 GT rotors are cheap, ford cut costs there, they are the same as V6 rotors if that tells you anything. I warped mine within a few burnouts on my auto. All is well until I hit the brakes at 50+ MPH and then it shakes like a ****ing aggregate tumbler. I've.....heard.....that just giving it moderate brakes when slowing down from 100+ MPHs is plenty to heat-scar these rotors. If you are going to replace them, don't put the same old **** back on. Buy the front cobra upgrade kit from FRPP its like 400-600 dollars depending on if they have deals up or not. Make sure you get stainless steel lines as well. Sometimes when they are selling the kit for 400 it doesnt include the steel lines.

+1 to what hangwire said

When I bought my mustang the rotors were warped, swapped them out pretty easily with the help of a little PB blaster. I would also recommend some hawk brake pads too.

the hawk pads are awesome! I have them hooking onto some Ford Racing C/D rotors out front and stock rotors out back. I'll advice the hawk pads for sure, but I will recommend you some better rotors! not too expendive by the way, considering how it safe it is and feels. That's the first thing I bought for my car because i wanted to be sure I'd stop kinda fast if I wanted to.

if you don't want to mess with the calipers and do the cobra setup you can always slap some new rotors on quick, ssbc makes some nice ones slotted crossed drilled ones that work with the stock calipers

drilled rotors are for looks don't really do anything. Increasing the rotor size has more of an effect. ssbs is a decent company but it would be cheaper (if that's an issue) to just upgrade tot eh cobra brakes.

Personally I'd do the sloted stock sized rotors... But that's because my 15x3.5 draglites wnt fit over anything bigger lol
