Steeda clutch cable problems
Hi all. I just installed a steeda clutch cable for my 2000 gt. Reason i installed it in the first place was because my clutch was sticking and it was very difficult to shift and was told the cable was the problem. Obviously it was not bc it is still difficult to shift and the clutch pedal is not smooth at all. anyone have ANY ideas as to what this could be???

Here we go again.... Lets start with one thing first
We have manufactured cables for Ford Motor Company for many years now. So the stock "superior" cable you get from Ford comes form the same supplier of the cable you think you are replacing with something better....
We manufacture around 20,000+ adjustable cables per year. Of which we get maybe 40 to 50 failed cables per year. Of those, we often get 1 or 2 from the same vehicle. Typically because there is another issue there (mis adjustment, mismatched parts, etc.)
Sadly, many mechanics and even some customers are quick to blame the part, dont want to discuss what could go wrong, particularly mechanics who say "I've been doing this for X number of years, its not me" and so on, they install the part the same way they did before, and it fails again.
Not saying its always this way, so I dont want anyone jumping in and saying we are always just blaming the end user. A fact of doing business in the aftermarket though is there are a lot of us out there, so there is a million combinations of clutches, transmissons, forks, bell housings, etc and not everything works perfectly together and sometimes issues can occur. And unlike some may suggest these issues are not widespread. The numbers speak for themselves on that.
Now with all this finger pointing nobody is asking any relevant questions about his problem which doesn't help him either.
So an important question that needs to be asked is, you replaced the cable you had with one of ours cause you were told it was the problem. Was there already an adjustable cable in there or did you take out an OEM cable???
If you took out a stock cable and this cable does the same thing then you could have another issue. Could be the pressure plate is on its way out, could be clutch disk issue, an internal transmission issue, a variety of things.
Lets actually try and help diagnose the problem first by asking relevant questions.

wellll... i had a new oem clutch put in about 10,000 miles ago. prob about 1,000 miles ago it started acting up. The thing that is weird is that it always doesnt always do this. the clutch pedal somtimes sticks and it not smooth going in or out, but othertimes its fine. When i had a shop(same one that installed the clutch) look at the problem, he said that the cable was no good and needed replacing. he wanted to charge $150 for install so i just went out and did it myself. now it is still doing it.
*** now i will say that after all this i decided to spray wd-40 on the clutch pedal springs in the dash board and on the clutch fork and up in where the fork attaches to the clutch and drives much better. not perfect like it used to be but better than it was

I'm a fan of Steeda and use/have used more than a few of your products. 2 years ago I broke my stock clutch cable. Within 2 weeks I broke 2 Steeda cables. Replaced with an OEM cable, no problem since.
