traction control?

I usually leave it on.
It is nothing like the one I had in my 96 Z-28. That was much more obtrusive and quick to engage than what I've experienced so far in my Mach 1. Compared to the Z-28, it hardly even feels like the traction control on the Mach 1 is even there. Whereas the Z-28 TC would come on with the slightest encounter with some loose pebbles, the Mach 1 TC seems to allow enough play to eliminate those unnecessary uses.

I use to have to turn it off every time I'd pull out into traffic. The last thing I needed was to have a few loose pebbles turn my car into a "slow turtle" in fast moving traffic.
There was no play at all in the traction control. It came on way too easy and transformed my Z-28 from a fast car to a slow car in a heartbeat. There may have been a few times where it was good to have it, but there were many more times when it was just a pain.
I hated that skip shift thing. It was one reason why I went with an automatic with my Z-28. Fortunately, the automatic in the Z-28 was very responsive....unfortunately, the TC was even more responsive.
The TC in my Mach 1 seems invisible compared to that terrible TC in the Z-28.

I am happy that the TC saved your ****, but if one loses traction around ANY turn, he/she is carrying too much throttle. I have permanently disabled the TC via tune, as others have done, and NEVER had such an option for the past 25 years of driving.
I think that one begins to unconsciously rely on such systems and I believe to be a bad thing.

i have 2 custom tunes for my car, a performance tune (which i use daily that has more agressive timing and firmer shifts) and a fuel economy tune (car shifts sooner, shifts into OD by 40 mph, and less agressive timing). i have the TC permanently turned off in the performance tune, but left enabled in the fuel economy.
i'm about to switch over to the fuel economy tune, because with my 315/35ZR17 sumitomos in the rear on my 10.5" rims, as soon as they get cold or wet, they're worthless. it's raining here this morning, and with as agressive as my shifts are, even a light-throttle 1st-2nd shift kicked my rear end out from behind me this morning. the fuel economy tune will tone down my shifts for winter, plus give me my TC back, which will help (note, help, not solve) me drive in the snow.

I leave mine on when it's wet outside, or if the conditions are not friendly for my tires (cold weather).
TC reacts a lot faster @ cutting power and slowing wheel spin than I could do with the brakes (well, usually at least)....although it's funny when it's snowy outside and TC can end up being very detrimental.
