Default good for a few extra hp**free mod**

I got really bored the other day and decided to make my own EGR block off plate.

First i got a piece of metal that would be the same size as the egr set-up. then to make the block off plate to look like it was stock i traced out the gasket onto the piece of metal. I then drilled two holes for the bolts to go through(27/64'' drill bit size). I then took it over to the grinder to round off the edges and filed everything down and it turned out pretty good.
Total time: ~25min
*did throw a code P0401 (insufficient EGR flow).

soooo the benefit of doing this other than getting a CEL is?

you have pre and post charts to show HP increase? just wondering...

you get a few extra horse power. its preventing the exhausts gases to recirculate back into the intake. that way your getting all clean air from the intake and not the left over by products of combustion and all the hydro-carbons.

The EGR system actually improves mid-range fuel economy and power by reducing combustion chamber temperatures, since exhaust gas is pretty stable and won't burn again. This reduced nitrogen oxide emissions, and allows the PCM to run more advanced ignition timing which allows more complete combustion, and thereby fuel efficiency.

It and the EVAP system are perhaps the only emission control systems that do not hurt performance. And like the EVAP, at WOT and/or high loads it's off anyway, so blocking it off even with re-tuning for it's removal will accomplish nothing.

reducing chamber temperatures??(NO) you dont want the chamber to be cold you want the air to be cold. you want the chamber to be hot so it atomizes the fuel better and burns more efficiently. i dont care about emissions too. and as far as advanceing the engine, how many degrees will it advance?? and EVAP is in your fuel tank and what not. Exhaust gases dont burn too. and every race shop ive been to puts them on there cars.
