SC question
Ok looking at getting a used vortech V-1 s-trim but wanted to double check a few things, first its on a 96 cobra, but from what i understand just the head unit with a stright discharge will work perfect on my car right? just have to buy all the brackets and hoses specific to my car? i read the sticky just wanted to make sure i understood it. And it doesnt mention anything about fuel requirments? like if i run 8 psi non intercooled 350-370 rwhp what kind of injectors and maf will i need? Just trying to get a good idea of what this motor build will cost. Any help would be great thanks
heres the numbers on it 6k miles on rebuild what do you think? Serial # 21787 Carb Eq #D-213-17

You'll want bigger injectors, up to you on what size to go with though.
I'm running 42# injectors, and at 10 psi. At that, you'll want a bigger fuel pump for safety too. There's little excuse to cheap on the fuel system - spend a few hundred extra here and save your shortblock.
You can run the stock MAF. I am - at a bit over 400 RWHP. If it concerns you, get a diablosport MAF.ia or other good MAF extender... you'll be able to get more power with one instead of a LMAF swap, plus, it'll work on an LMAF if you really want to do that, too.
Apart from that... You'll need the head unit bracket, and piping for your car. A lot of the piping that's already there will work. Some generic 3" tubing and silicone couplers will work great to fill the rest of the gaps instead of buying a full new piping kit from Vortech (Which is going to be big $$... probably 400+).
You'll want copper plugs, one heat range colder. Maybe two heat ranges if you feel like it. NGK = good... and they're cheap each... just a couple bucks. NO PLATINUM PLUGS!
For a fuel pump, I'm running a 310 lph. VMP tuning has them which are direct swaps... no splicing required. A 255 will work ok for what you want. The Focus pumps work too but will require a little splicing.
Don't forget to remove your UDPs (or just buy a smaller supercharger pulley - either will work fine), and get a tune. The car WILL NOT RUN after changing the injectors - especially if you go with 42#. You'll need the tune immediately to have it work. I tuned mine myself.
After all is said and done, consider a water/meth kit if you're not going to switch to intercooling it.

Id just put that money away and rock your car N/A till you get the money to do what you really want. I mean you have a goal so just save towards that. I mean if push comes to shove, just buy the on3performance kit. Not bad for just about 2k for a turbo kit.
The supercharger is going to be enough. It'll max out your short block EASILY. Plus, it may seem like around 2k now, but you're likely to spend a lot closer to 3 by time it's done. A turbo would be even more.
Think about another 2k afterwards to get yourself above 400 RWHP... and if you want more power, the easy answer is a smaller pulley. If you still really need new power, there's cams, and other bolt-ons... there's plenty of options and you really won't feel the supercharger as a limitation till 600+ RWHP.
