Default Cams or Gears?

Hi all - Which mod will be more noticeable on my '03 procharged supercharger auto gt? I am looking for off the line increase, low-mid power increase... (the rumble from the cam wpould be nice though...)

4.10 gears or a cam? Do the 4.10 gears give an annoying whine? I heard from other sites that they might.... My speed shop guy is telling me to go with the cams first, then the gears at a later time. I think the gears will be $750 vs $1300 for the cams (labor incl).

It seems the improvement from the gears might be more noticeable than the cams (and cheaper) but really not sure.

Any help would be much appreciated.

thanks

Welcome to the forums! Gears will be much more noticable in the low-mid range. If they're setup right they shouldn't whine at all.

If you are going to end up getting them both done anyways then i would say its up to you which one you get first... do you want something that will make you car feel faster when just stomping on the gas at a light or something that will overall will just make you car faster with a nice sound???? u pick

& Welcome!!!

You'd need gears to feel a good cam anyway so go with gears.

What exhaust do you run? I will tell you that I had the gears done step by step, set backlast perfect, replace bearings and seals, and pre load torque was correct and still have whine. I am going to agree, just happens but after I put on Mac Off Road H pipe can barley hear whine anymore. Could hear pretty noticable with just flows. Now after cams and heads done cant really hear the whine. It only happens only deceleration on gears 4th and 5th. FRPP gearset. Good luck.

The gears shouldnt whine. It seems with gears It can be a toss up some times. I have 4.56 gears in my rear end. I called one shop about the install and they said that with gears that extreme It will whine no matter what. Then i went to another to get the work done. and BAM no whine at all. The gears feel great. I cant tell you first hand about the cams.
