Default Launching an Auto?!

Okay, so i have a 02 GT automatic with pretty much full boltons... if i were to go to the track tomorrow or just street racing what would be the best way to launch? Should i just step on the gas? Hold the brake while giving gas then letting off brake and going full on gas when light turns green (also what rps should i be at)?? Or is there another method that i didnt mention???

Tried searching but couldnt find a similar situation, so let me know what ya think...

Well i think the best way is just to manually shift the auto, but that HAS to be bad!! haha! But yea, press on the brake, release, step on gas and hope for the best?

You call that bull bolt on?

5800rpm if your tires and trans can hold it.

if your running regular street tires they are not gonna hold over 1800 rpm, if you have a set of drag radials left foot on brake right foot on gas should hold to about 2000. then right when you let off the brake stab the gas. if shifting manual shift at 5500 the factory delay will let it go to 5800

When I am on my street tires in my auto, I hold the e-brake and let it slip like a clutch to minimize tire spin, and once I hook and my converter flashes, see ya later! But drag radials will make your life SOOO much easier! With a 3000 stall converter, I flash the converter at 1500RPM as opposed to build pressure at 3000RPM, and the difference is quite noticeable to me in the eighth mile as building the pressure got me slower times all the time. Another thing you should know is that unless you have an upgraded tranny with a manual valve body, leaving the car in DRIVE will always have you going the fastest, period. Hope this helps!

Yes get converter for your auto. Best thing you can do with shift kit. But you won't hook worth a damn. 3000 stall if it is your daily driver and it won't hurt driveability that bad.

It's been pretty much covered.
Left foot your brake in drive, rev to around 1200 + or so. Release brakes and mash gas when 3rd. yellow light comes on. If you waiting for or anticipating it to turn green your LATE!!

Make sure you disable t/c and o/d too.
