Default need advice!

well ive been looking around for my next mustang. and came across a couple descent deals but nothing that was just to good to pass up, when a buddy told me that this local shop has a couple cobras w/out motors and trannies, but everything else is complete and in pretty good condition. they"re askin $1500 -$1800 for em. should i buy one of these and put a rebuilt motor and tranny in, since id probably have a built motor put into whatever else i bought any way? or should i buy one already running? next quesion would be if i bought one of tha cobras, what engine plat form should i go with? the ole 5.0 pushrod or a newer modular motor! sorry for tha long thread! thanks for any input , or ideas!

I'd get a 95 cobra and put a built 5.0(302, 331, or 347) in it with a nasty h/c/i setup on there. Itd be nasty then.

^^^Actually unless he plans on a stroker, the 302 won't make very big numbers.

My buddy has a 95 Cobra with a full HCI setup, and every bolt on possible, and still only made 300 rwhp.

really? i was kinda thinking the 302 would've put out alot more than that. so it'd be better to go w/tha mod motor? so with that being said, guess i'll try to find a 4v to build at least. i went to look at the cobras they had and they were actually fairly descent shape. so i guess im goin to go that route. prolly gonna get the 98 cobra complete all but motor and trans, for $1850 and get busy this winter!

Just go with the 5.0. Get a 347 stroker kit or drop in a 351 with a stroker kit to 408 or 427 and roll that n/a. it will be a beast.

I'd go with tried and true old school tech too. Small block Fords are plentiful and alot cheaper to build. Definitely stroke it and slap it crazy with aftermarket parts. Keep in mind: Ford modified the firewalls on the SN95 Cobra's with 351's so they'd fit. PERSONALLY: For the price of the car sans engine and tranny. I'd build a street legal drag car. Full frame, Mustang II front-end, narrowed 9-inch, Big Block, etc., etc., etc.

how much trouble would it be to build a 351 and have it fuel injected? that would be a little different and cool at tha same time! a little insight on what im trying to do, im wanting another mustang that i can completely, inside and out, redo, to my own liking. im either goin with a white car w/black interior or black car w/ black interior or maybe dark red. im hoping to have about 400rwhp outta tha motor. ive always wanted a saleen so probably goin with a saleen clone body kit as well. my friend said to jus go buy one like i want, but i want to do it myself ya know! so everything will be exactly like i want. thanks for all you guys input! been a great help! kinda diggin tha 351fi idea though. hope its possible and not too much trouble
