.005" is what you said you measured for the clearance on the CMS Stage 2 N/A cam, right? And have you measured the Hitech Stage 2 N/A cams? I want to say you did in one of the threads you linked and you said they were a dead hit at 110 IC.

I have measured both them and the Comp 270 which uses the same intake lobe. Here is a thread from someone that had the Hitech hit at 110 and had to retard them to clear, also describes the tapping noise quite well:

So that is why Hitech Stage 2 n/a cams are 111 and not 110 anymore. To bad the guy in that thread didn't measure his PTV clearance at 112.5. If 110 was a dead hit, how much more clearance would a person get with just retarding it 1*?

Hitech are 112 intake centerline, they have always had the same 111LSA. They retarded the cam a total of 2 degrees somewhere along the way which would give about 0.030" more clearance. To understand the old and new specs:

111LSA advanced one degree gives 110 intake centerline and 112 exhaust centerline (original spec).

111LSA retarded one degree gives 112 intake centerline and 110 exhaust centerline (new spec)
