What makes a car lift off the ground when racing. Is that an upgrade rear end or just serious power.

I assume you mean the front end, since it would be kind of difficult for the entire car to lift off the ground.

Basically, it's the combination of weight being transfered to the rear, and the tires and suspension allowing the car to hook...thus possibly pulling the front end up off the ground. Of course you need enough power to make this happen as well.

Is it true that a car has to have at least like 450hp to lift? For some reason i think ive heard that b4, but i know it depends on alot more then hp

Not true...

I've seen tons of videos/pics of full bolt on cammed 2V GT's getting the front tires off the ground a bit but it usually requires slicks and all that

Nope. It depends on the suspension, weight, weight transfer, and traction. They actually have competitions with wheel stands to see how long the cars will hold it. They set their suspension up specifically for it. Lifting the wheels like that is terrible for drag racing if you're really concerned about the fastest possible times, though.
