I have an O/R X pipe with flowmaster 40 series dumped before the axle so right around 2,700 it really starts to resonate. But also like 945LSTANG said, over a long trip, that will really make a difference.
I could see it getting annoying with no cats. I don't think it would be enough to change my mind though. If I were NA I would still do 410, I would sacfice some gas mileage on a long trip for the extra speed. I would plan on racing the mustang more than going on long trips with it. Everyone has their own application though.

My Flowmasters drone around 2000 RPM on the highway, so basically about 70 MPH- thats one thing holding me back from 3.73s. I don't want that drone to come in when I'm actually doing the speed limit
There is a difference between just being reasonable and being ridiculous. In the summer time I like to drive my car to work a lot. Which is mostly freeway driving. I don't think it's unreasonable to want to maintain respectable gas mileage while doing this.
What I find funny is people with poor engine set ups who try to hide behind their gear.
Is 200 or 300 rpm difference really going to make a big difference? That is probably, what? 1 or 2 mpg? Which would cost you 13-26 miles per tank. So instead of (just an example) 300 miles per tank you get 275 miles per tank. So instead of 20mpg your getting 18mpg.
So your saying people with poor engine set up have 4.10s? Just curious why you say that.
Not sure that I have ever heard anyone regret getting 4.10s, only 3.73.
edit: N/A that is...
agreed

I do dd my car, I live in southern pa and go to school in western pa so I deal with a lot of snow, had no problem getting around with the gears and it's not at all annoying to me driving in town through traffic or on the highway.

Pros: You'll be in fifth gear quickly
Cons: You'll be in fifth gear at 110 mph, hope you enjoy being at 2700 RPM on the highway, too.
3.73s are a much better choice for nearly everyone.
I'm n/a so to me the 4.10s seemed like the best choice. Being a 20 year old american male, I didn't buy a mustang to get very good gas mileage similar to a civic or sentra. I got the car to have fun. I get pretty good gas mileage as is and if you can control yourself and not stop on the throttle, your gas shouldn't be effected that greatly. I do not drive 110 on the highway and if anything the 4.10 gear encourages me to drive the speed limit more. I love the slightly higher rpms (2300-2500ish on I-81), makes my flows sound even better and louder . If you're worried about it being too loud and not getting 30mpg, you shouldn't have bought an american muscle car with a v8 and a sh*ty suspension. Pardon my french.
Haha, I read the title, then barreled into the thread ready to tell the OP they were an idiot and needed to keep their foot out of the throttle....But was pleasantly surprised to see the actual thread.
Glad you enjoy your gears!

It's funny how people worry about getting good gas mileage in their Mustang. I mean people buy Mustangs to mods them or go fast in and yet they worry about gas mileage? I don't understand that.
So tired of hearing this. Money is money. I don't complain when I get ****ty gas mileage, because I know what I drive. But its nice to see 300+ miles a tank sometimes, because I don't enjoy spending more money than I already do on gas.

Even at 1-2 mpg less on a tank, that's $3.-- you're spending once or twice a week to fill up(3.-- on gas because if you have gears, you probably have a tuner, and probably have a 91 tune.)
so 3-6 bucks a week. 12-24 bucks a month. 144-288 a year. This is of course, taking 1-2mpg. If more, difference would be more pronounced. Idk about you, but I'd love to get say, 144-288 more $ from taxes every year!
I really wish I had a commute car. I would in a second go with 4:30's. I think a full bolt on Auto GT with those gears would absolutely rip. Doing 70 mph with 4:30's, would I probably rev at like 2850 or so? That would be my guess.....
