new guy with some questions
hello guys, i just bought a 2004 mustang gt automatic with the following mods, shorty headers(unknown brand), CAI, the rest of the exhaust seems to be modified as well. My question is whenever im in the highway and doing like 65mph, my motor is turning close to 3,000rpm's, is that normal for a 2v? Now I know that these cars came stock with 3.27 gear ratio, is it possible that i might steeper gears? Thanks guys, btw this site rocks!!!

holy **** haha
Umm I dont even know if 4.30's turn 3k rpms @ 65 MPH. But yea, you def have a set of REALLY steep gears (unless you have monster truck tires on the car, haha)
where did the car come from? did the owner disclose any info to you about the car? or its history? he might of had it at the track for a while.

and OP yes theres an easy way to tell which gears you have. you need a friend and a piece of chalk, tape or a marker. lift your car up off the ground and put a mark on the 6 o clock position of your driveshaft (the bottom of the side closest to the ground). then put a mark on the six o clock position of one of your tires (the part of the tire closest to the ground). then get your buddy to rotate both of your rear tires at the same time/same speed for ONE full rotation. if the driveshaft turns 4.1 revolution, you have 4.10 gears. if your driveshaft turns ~4.5 times, you have 4.56 gears. if your driveshaft turns ~3.75 times, you have 3.73 gears.
get it?

From the checking ive done here quick for you, you probably have 4.88 rear gears...which ive never actually seen on a car. lol those gears are rediculous man. I'd get them taken out asap and put 4.10's back in. Those would be the gears id go with if i had to put gear in an auto car.
