Default Supercharged.....worth it?

Trying to debate weather or not I want to throw a supercharger on my car or not. The two things that are throwing me off is A. it's an auto, I'm not sure if i wanna dump that kind of money into an automatic. and B. the tranny has 155K on it. I've swapped the motor and it only has 50K miles so I'm not worried about that, but will I have problems with my tranny?

Just looking for some advice and opinions

I would do it. Automatics will have more parasitic loss through the drive train. For example, 8 psi would result in somewhere around 350 rwhp through a manual transmission. You should see around 320 rwhp with an automatic. But add a stall converter and a shift kit and the automatic is faster. An automatic is easier to launch and you shouldn't ever miss a shift. Serious drag races ofter change out their manual transmissions for automatics.

Wel, i guess you first need to dicide if you want to have an automatic, like you said. If you decide that's what you want then a blower should be fine if the tranny is in good order. Personally, i would try to keep the boost to 9lbs. or less though, just because of the high mileage.

Boost is always worth it. its just a matter of how you do it.

sell the auto and use the S/C money to put money down on a 05+ GT.

(05gts w/ minor bolt-ons will approach S/C numbers on the 99-04s fairly quick)

A centrifical supercharger running 10 lbs of boost will get about 400 rwhp on a completely stock 2v motor. Since when do bolt on 3v's approach 400 rwhp? Conservatively that's somewhere between 450-470 hp at the crank.
