Default BBK headers Need advice!!

I want to put new headers on my '04 mustang gt/auto. What's the difference between shortys and long tubes? Will either fit with my BBK o/r X pipe?

Shorty headers will fit your bbk o/r x pipe. The longtubes require the use of a shorty midpipe, which your o/r x pipe isnt. Also, beware that not all longtubes will accommodate for auto transmissions. But all shorties will fit.

Bottom line...long tubes will out perform shorties, and sound better. If you're going through the trouble of doing headers, definantly do the long tubes.

^^^

however, it would be worth the extra ~$120 for a new shorty o/r h-x. You don't want to choose headers based on keeping a mid-pipe (and just a o/r one at that, no cats or anything, so its not worth as much to boot).

Shorties are pretty much a waste of time for most applications, only worth maybe 2-3rwhp. LT's are a horrible install, but well worth it from what I hear.

They are usually around 10rwhp at peak but make alot more than 10 across the power band. If you search you should find an article about it. Some people can't do long tubes becaus eof emissions either so keep that in mind.

Yeah I know, I'm one of them. And the only shorties I'm aware of right now that have CARB certification are the JBA shorties for like $600.
