Default What parts should I salvage from a 97 cobra?

I've got a 98 GT Vert and I was just approached by a guy with a 97 cobra that he wants to part out. He said the engine is blown. I was looking at possibly salvaging some of the body parts like the wing, side skirts, and mirrors. Are there any engine/drivetrain components that I should be checking on for my ride? My GT is stock except for a Ford Racing Performance Handling Kit (struts, shocks, sway bars, and springs) and a drop-in K&N filter. I don't like the cobra wheels from that year so...I'd appreciate some input. Thanks.

Maybe the gauge cluster might be cool to have. Also front bumper and hood would be nice. I always liked the way the SN95 cobras looked. And if it wasnt stock, see what performance goodies you can get off it like catback and stuff like that.

See if you can get the motor cheap since it's blown up. Might just be bad bearings or something simple then you've got a cheap complete 4v teksid motor. Definitly go for the bumper if you like it. Oem cobra bumpers are super expensive and the aftemarket hard plastic ones crack on install if your not careful.

Yeah, there really aren't a lot of differences in those years... You might run into issues with the gauge cluster because I know there are differences between the 98 and the 97. Otherwise the engine is really the only other big component beyond body panels.

Thanks for the ideas guys. I followed up with the guy and he's not interested in selling me the whole car. He said that the whole bottom end of the engine is blown and the rear-end is a loss. I was looking at body parts as just straight replacements for my parts. I've got 142k miles on my GT and the sideskirts got scraped up on the bottom by the previous owner. I have yet to find anyone selling just the sideskirts. Personally, I think most of the after-market body kits look like dog sh*t. The cobra is black like my gt so I wouldn't have to paint. Should be getting pics of the parts soon.

Is the exhaust the same diameter? I could raid that too. The cobra has an off-road H pipe and flowmaster mufflers. I'm just not sure if they are the same size pipes.
