Default finally put her down :(

well it has happened....i finished building my subaru justy, and finally put the mustang in the garage for repairs and upgrades. Ill say this, i hate driving a 66hp car, the front wheels on my mustang make more power than that...its not bad getting 30 plus to the gallon tho. In anycase, due to the large amount of money it took to rebuild the DD car i now have less money for the stang. But also have a new plan of attack so that hopefully ill have my car back for summertime weekend fun. Should be able to rebuild bottom end (as in turn the crank) since as most of you know its now spun the same bearing twice. And replace the oil pump while im in there im sure. Then stick the bastard back in the car with the t-56 thats been sitting on my floor for 6 months. And if i have any money left, i may just buy the brackets and such and try to get the vortec head unit installed for a non inter cooled 8 psi, on the stock block. Figure that will get me through the summer!!

Well im sure since youre doing most of this stuff yourself that somewhere along the lines you'll be able to put together some money to at least put together an intercooler kit together and put it on. Good luck my friend. Glad to see things are turning around with her.

its a 4.6 not a 4.2 and for the most part thats what im doing. Pulling the motor, yanking the crank, having it machined and putting new bearings in it, and new oil pump, and timing set depending on what it looks like. thats about the cheapest i can get back into it. Other wise i buy a long block, which best case is a few hundred bucks, but then i have to spend lots more on gaskets and crap. so this is the cheapest way out. still i beleive a turned crank is like 150ish bucks, and new bearings main and rod are probebly around 150. and the timing set is dam expensive, so just this part could end up costing me 600-800 bucks. if im lucky crank wont need to be turned (altho 2 spun rod bearings im not holding much hope) really im just crossing my fingers the timing set is A OK. cuz thats the most expensive part.

Craigslist and classified ads do but i know what youre saying man.

Edit: You should just sell the blower for now and do the motor with forged/billet rods and some new pistons and put some cams in it. Be about the same price as the blower but less fuel upgrades to make and cheaper to tune.

ive considered alot of options, i mean i could even sell the t-56 and get even more money. But as i see it now, its a weekend car, and i can get it up and running for what i have, saving for the little stuff is going to take less time then selling it all and trying to start over, besides i got a great deal on the t-56 and even the head unit wasnt a bad price, so i figure get this motor working. save for the forged one and just build it out of the car, then when its done, swap the engine, upgrade to a 26 spline and call it a day. Doesnt need to be totally bad *** yet, id rather have it working and running 13s than not working.
