$250 for TOB??
Is $250 a good price to replace my throwout bearing? The guy at my shop actually replaced my clutch 1 1/2 years ago ( 20,000 miles ago) and I honestly dont think he ever even replaced the bearing at all, and my car has been making the infamous rattle from a bad TOB ever since. However, he told me the clutch has a lifetime warranty so the part will not cost me anything. But he said labor would be 250..... anyone think i should try and get the clutch company to pay for the labor??? or him??

First of all I don't know why you didn't bring up the issue with him right after the new clutch was installed if the TOB was still making a noise...
I would bring up the issue with him but I don't think it will have any positive effect since you waited this long
And I guess $250 is a decent price for it since it is pretty much a clutch job but it is such a bad position to be in since usually you mightaswell just replace the clutch as well but in your case, you already have

well i mean i brought it back to him about a month after the original job and he told me basically bc the noise at the time was pretty subtle that he wasnt gonna spend all day on it for the little noise. but it has obviously gotten much worse since then. i think im gonna bring it to him again and tell him he needs to fix it no charge bc im not paying for his mistake. Its a small shop and he rembers me so he knows hes wrong.

hmm well if he remembered you starting to complain about the sound then yeah he should do it for free...and make sure you get a good TOB this time...I heard a Timken one is good. What kind of clutch did you go with by the way?

man i was pressed for cash at the time so i just went with an oem clutch kit. he charged me 149 for it. plus 250 for install and resurfacing the flywheel. The guy has a bad *** terminator so i trusted him with my ride but i guess i shouldnt have. But ive continuesly been bringing it up there with clutch issues every few months or so
