What's your favorite plug?
My basic NGK plugs that I put in when I installed my engine are slowly fading. My highway gas milage has been getting worse. I want to get some better plugs. I usually stick to Motorcraft. Does anyone have any suggestions?

NGK are good. Motorcraft are good. Most spark plugs are made by the same companies (depending on brands) so you are most likely getting the same or close to the same plug for your car regardless of brand. Stick to NGK or Motorcraft - they work!

I used to like Bosch Platinums back in the day until the tip of one decided to break off inside my engine. Luckily no engine damage, just a misfire. +1 on Motorcraft/NGK; and I'm not sure any particular brand really matters unless you're f/i or nitrous and even then the gap is really the only thing that's of any real consequence. For all intents and purposes, I've always been told that a spark is a spark and they all do pretty much the same job.

The tungsten electrode NGK plugs recommended by many are less than optimal for most n/a applications, because they have service lives that are 20% to 25% of what even an inexpensive ($2.10 each for the Champion 3401s) single platinum electrode plug can provide.
------------------------------------------
Precious metal plugs maintain much more defined electrode ionisation initialisation points--this causes the spark, once the gap is ionised (which will require a lower voltage), to be a bit "thinner" than that required by conventional tungsten electrode plugs.
Under high compression and/or higher boost conditions this "thinner" spark can "blow-out"--in this case, and only in this case, plain ol' tungsten electrode plugs can be a better choice.
