You might want to opt for 3.73's, especially if choosing a positive displacement blower. In some applications 4.10's are good with a centrifugal blower, especially with an auto.

Gears definitely you might want 4.10s instead of 3.73s though.

gears. check the prices at summit for gears and install kit. I got FRP axle bearings and seals for half the price of OEM.

+1 op 4.10s ftw! You wont be disappointed. My car is my DD and i commute M-TH to staten island for class which is about a 45 minute ride with traffic mostly highway and i still get near 20mpg and thats with getting on it little. It pulls like nothing else though. It was a huge difference for me because my car came with 2.73s stock.

Get the gears. I won't tell you which ones to get as only you can really choose based on your goals/driving styles.

I went with 3.73's and they should be here tomorrow.

4.10s ftw. I have them and got 22 mpg last time I filled up. Most of it was highway @ 70mph, with some city driving. I was like you at first thinking it would screw over my gas mileage. You might get 1-2 mpg less if you do all highway driving, but its well worth the extra acceleration. Easy to pass in 5th gear with 4.10s too.

I'd do 4.10's if I had it to do over again. I paid $300 install, I also got the motive install kit and Ford axle bearings. But as far as gears vs. your other thought of an intake and throttle body, that's really a no contest as far as the performance gains you're going to see. I think you'll be much happier with gears than you would an intake and TB.
