Default CA smog

I was wondering if anyone here has been able to pass CA smog with aftermarket cats? I am trying to find a way around buying the cats that are available in CA and wanted to know if anyone here has any suggestions. I'm brand new to mustangs so I don't know much about them. Any help would be appreciated.

just keep your stock mid pipe so u can switch it out come smog time then put your other one bak on. I honestly dont deal with the smog stuff, I know a guy that knows a guy that knows a guy that just passes me with my car the way it is for a small fee lol.

^^^+1 to that. The aftermarket midpipes only have two cats; you might pass a sniffer but not visual. And yes, it helps to know somebody.

I dont have the original midpipe so thats why I'm tryin to find out. As long as the aftermartket ones will pass a sniff test I'm sure that I can find someone to "pass" me on the visual. Just wanted to make sure that the aftermartket ones will pass for emissions.

Only one way to find out..... I suggest doing a pre-test first, if it passes that then you're good to go. If you don't do a pre-test and fail the official one, your car will be tagged a "gross polluter" and you'll have to go to one of those **** outback law enforcement "smog only" places. Post back what happens.

If you're in the Inland Empire area I'd let you rent my pipe (refundable deposit) but I don't think it will fit.

Most aftermarket catted midpipes won't pass CA smog. I think the magnaflows will. It however, usually won't pass the visual if the place does it.

My suggestion: Just get whatever midpipe you want and keep your stock one for when smog time times. Or just find a place who will take Benjamins word for it
