Default Opinions on traction problem

So I had 4.10 gears installed back in January. At first I liked them but now I don't know so much. I can't get traction in first or most of second. My tires tend to spin but then even when they catch it seems like the power doesn't get put to the ground.
Do you think I need better tires(mine are basically a stock version) or I was also looking at the limited slip differential that american muscle sells?

Better tires are definitely your answer

Do you have any suggestions. I think I was looking at nitto street legal drags but I would have to be very careful in the rain and change them out during the winter. I have an 03 so I was thinking of maybe getting two new rear wheels and rims maybe going 18 and wider also. My stock wheels are the mag ones I think.

Well if your worried at all about the rain, and you have 4.10's then I wouldn't get drag radials. Unless you want to go to the track and don't plan on driving it when the weather is crappy. Some members have driven with drag radials on and done fine, others not so fine.

I have a friend that drove through rain with drag radials and did a 360 degree spin on a 2 lane highway....lucky, haha!

Also, do you have stock suspension?

Yeah stock suspension. Then do you know what tires would be a good choice to get. I want to get good ones.

If i were you, i'd go to AmericanMuscle.com and good look up your rim size and match it up with some tires. Read some reviews on the tires and go from there.

I'm by no means a tires expert, haha, but the reviews on AM are somewhat unbiased

How much power are putting down? I would say <300 and nitto streets should be ok. Anything higher and I would go with nitto drs which are not that bad in the rain at all. They are a nice in between street tires and real drs.

I've had Nitto DR's and currently am running M/T DR's. I've had no problems in the rain with either so far, and you're not going anywhere in a mustang if it snows anyway, so that shouldn't make a difference in your tire selection. If you're having a traction problem, I wouldn't step up to an 18"wheel, keep your 17's.
