Under $1,500 S/C Question
So I got my car dynoed yesterday and I was pretty happy with the results. My NPI motor put down 212 rwhp and 283 trq. The dyno guy said that was more than expected for my year. The question I had was about the $1,500 S/C kit that you put together. I read the thread Frostbitten made, but I'm just not exactly if that's all I need for my 98 or if I need more or less. And I was wondering if other people have gone this route with their supercharger purchase and what snags that might come along the way. I'm going to probably try this out because I'm a college student and also I think it's smarter than dropping 3 to 4k for a kit. Lastly what trim s/c would you think would be best for me. I have 4.10's so I know she's gonna want to rev to the moon. I'm looking for 350 hp and the tuner said that would be a number we could def get at 8-9 psi with the kit I choose.

thats the route i will be taking one of these days. If you want to intercool it you wont need the inlet pipe. there is a nice write up near the 1500 S/C write up, should be a sticky. Everything mentioned there is what you should need too. What you may want to do is buy a boost gauge and AFR WB set up... Those tailpipe WB sensors they use at the dyno are less accurate then one near the headers.
Another thing is mak sure your blowoff setup is good, sometimes i see people not install a blowoff valve and that creates alot of stress on your S/C while closing your TB.
Trims wont matter too much if your only shooting for 350rwhp. most popular are the v1 and v2, i think they are legacy models now so you may find them cheaper. The v3 is nice because its self contained oil (no tapping the oil pan).
Good luck boosting!

Not exactly sure everything you need for a sn95 but i thought it was all posted there minus injectors and maf and tuner. I just finished buying all my stuff for like 1750 with injectors maf shipping and all!

After researching I'm pretty sure I'm going to buy the v3 for that reason not having to tap the oil pan. I guess I'll just have to start piecing the system together and seeing what I have to do. One last question if I do buy the v3, I won't be needing some of those parts listed to buy individually from the original post, if I am correct since you wouldn't be tapping the oil pan. Thanks for all the help

like the sticky says, thats everything you need to mount a non-intercooled vortech to your car. if you want an intercooler, do like said and follow the intercooler sticky. you will need atleast a 90mm lightning maf, a 255lph fuel pump, and some fuel injectors. that plus the items in the sticky is all you need.
common sense says if you don't need to tap the oil pan, the only things you won't need are the oil feed and oil drain lines.
