First time at the track tomorrow

learn how to drive...lol cant do much with an auto except learn how to launch it. Ill treat you like you have no clue. At the light climb up on the brake. meaning put your foot on brake and gas and push the gas until your almost spinning the tires(you dont have to be on the brake very hard). then basically light turns green mash the gas pedal let off brake. i also wouldnt do much more than a smal burnout if any at all. try without one then with one, if your car leaves the same i wouldnt waste the rubber. taught my friend how to do it in his TA a few practice runs and your should be good. Basically your looking to get your tires to spin a bit off the line, since factory autos are a bit sluggish and if you dont spin its the equivilant of a bog. should be around a 2.1 60' maybe 2.0 depending on how well you pick it up. the rest is up to your computer and heat soak.

cool thanks, im hoping for a better 60 than that. Should have mentioned I have a vortech/meth with MT ET streets. Not sure of current power levels but probably around 370. I am a total newb at the track, so any info is appreciated. Never even been to watch.

Drop the wheels to 19 psi. They are ET streets so small burn out, get in line and mash it. Again like he said, leave it in Drive.

Also, try a few passes of idle and let the converter flash. I don't know how well this works with a factory style converter and transmission, but my dad seems to run better leaving off idle with a c4 and 3400 stall.

Watch a few cars before you get in line. The first couple passes I would work on getting familar with the burnout and staging, after that you can try different launching techniques. Honestly after you have made a few passes and you feel comfortable, with an automatic theres not much to do, set your launch RPM wait for the third yellow mash the pedal and stay in the groove. It's was amazing to me when driving a low 12 sec car on the street how fast it felt, when I made my first couple passes all I could think was how slow it felt.
