Default DD drag radials

i know its not recommended to DD with drag radials but i have em on a car that im going to begin to DD in this summer...i have 18 inch MT DRs and im wondering if there is a better DR to be DDing on..i know probably the Nitto DRs are best but i have a fully built rear and wanna be able to really use it and launch hard when i go to the track (heard its hard gettin the nittos to hook)..i get the MTs to dead hook without a problem, but is there something similar that can maybe get some more miles out of em, or can bear wet roads a little lol...how dangerous is it really to drive in the rain with the MTs on, ive never done it, anyone have any experience?

the super tire, launch like a MT, safeish in less than ideal weather condition, and doesnt wear down super fast, does this exist? lol

Maybe the NT05 or NT05R's are what youre looking for. Cobra guys use NT05's and they hook pretty darn well, and i heard that the NT05R's hook like slicks and wear like MT's. But what you get by doing the NT05R's is the fact that all the 18" sizes(which im assuming you have seeing that your wheels are somewhat larger) will give you a 28" tall tire, which will help with launching and will bring your gear down to give you a bit more pull towards the end of the quarter.

your gonna be comprimising either way to be honest haha. Thats why i just bought slicks for the track. I was trying to do the same thing you were finding a medium but it seems either you hook really well but run out of tread fast or hook okay and the tread lasts a little longer. No dr is really that great in the rain.

i wish they did lol...i think i could probably handle the weather in the DRs, i just wish they didnt wear down so dam fast..they are expensive lol...im gonna have to look into the nitto nt05/05r's..are they considered a drag radial or a street tire? i have the most fun rollin through the water and lettin my linelock do what it does best at the track lol, thats y im trying to stay with a DR if possible, but its not out of the question to either sell them or use em until they burn out and just go with DR's on different rims for the track and a street tire to DD, but i know people DD with DRs, just curious if i am left out of some secret or something or if everyone doing this just replaces there tires like every 1-2 years lol

honestly if you decide on a 555r just get a street tire. they don't hook much better. and the people that get them too i'm still not convinced its hit or miss.

and they barely hook better than the bfg street tires i had on my car. hit or miss. order a set of mts and i'd bet you wouldn't buy another set of nittos.

I have M/T streets on 95 gt wheels. I have drove around on the street on both. I have never tried the 555rs on the track but have had good luck with them on the street. But I will say I didn't mind running the et streets on the street but I did not see rain. I have driven the 555rs in the rain pretty comfortably.

edit:I am talking about hooking with an auto and stock converter I should say.
