Turbo Mustang??

Turbo Mustang??
My next mod for my car was going to be a supercharger, but after talking to my mechanic he told me that it might be a better idea to get a turbo instead because you can get more power out of them and they aren't as hard on the engine.
I don't really know much about turbos other than the fact that you get a turbo lag from them.
Does anyone know if it would be a better idea to get a turbo.
P.S. The superchargers I was considering were Kenne Bell or Procharger

+1 a supercharger is very safe as long as its a really good tune. The only pain in the a$$ thing with a turbo kit is that youll have to buy a tubular k member which is pricy.

supercharger isnt "too hard" on your engine.
turbos are nicer because they don't take power to make power (sc adds parasitic loss), and they generate more boost over longer periods of time (rather than gradual building like a centri blower).
however, there are no turbo kits out there with the quality and reliability of the cheaper supercharger kits for near the same price. on3performance is the only company so far to put an affordable turbo kit out for the mustangs, but quality does show (or lack there of) with that price. upgrading a few things here and there can make the on3 kit pretty nice, but by the time you've done all that you could have just had a STS or hellion setup.
quality turbo kit: 6 grand or more (needing lots of front suspension and exhaust mods)
quality supercharger: less than 2 grand with no special work needing done
thats why you don't see as many turbos running around as you do superchargers in the mustang crowd.

Hellion's kit comes with everything needed to put it on the car, including tubular front suspension with coilovers and c/c plates and a arms, fuel system upgrades, and all the exhaust work necessary to run the turbo. Its honestly not that bad of a deal considering that the KB kit is what, like $5k or so, more if you want it polished(which hellion's turbos come polished already for those who want bling ). Honestly its not that bad of a deal when you think about it.

people have bought the on3 kit have liked it. most bad reviews are coming from people who don't own the kit. The kit is more raw, you may have to use common sense to get something to fit or upgrade the v bands so you won't have leaks or something. If you dont mind getting your hands dirty, can have the car down for a longer time period then and are on a budget then IMHO the on3 would be a fine product. The Hellions are a sweet looking kit dont get me wrong, if i had 6 grand I'd buy it over the on3.
Somethings to notice on the on3 though. You need a tubular k-member and coil-overs in the front (because pipes are routed though where the oem springs sit). The stock v-bands are cheap and so is the wastegate i think. You will want a boost gauge and AFR WB set up to monitor your system. Fuel system can be upgraded pretty cheap, ebay for pump (~100) and 42# injectors with lighting MAF is 370ish

470 or so for fuel upgrades and then your k-member with coil-overs then if you want to upgrade the v bands and maybe the wastegate you are looking at ~1300 on top of the kit. Just a good reminder that that initial price isn't the final price. Good luck with your build.

Ok. There are other brands other than cheapo on3. Check out ponydown. Who cares if I need a new k member... Most change it anyways. For ponydown the AJE k member works with the kit and the difference is that one doesn't have to change the A arms and go to a coil over setup. I'm having one custom made for me all for $4k. Shop around. That's not a bad deal. A good rule of thumb is that per psi a turbo adds close to 20 rwhp vs a supercharger that typically adds 10 rwhp per psi.
