Default imrc delete question

what if i just take out all the butterflys and the electronic **** and cables and just left it completely open? what could it hurt? wouldnt it just allow more air to the heads and wouldnt that be a good thing?

That is exactly what you do when you delete the IMRC's in an b head 4v. But you have to fill the holes that the shaft for the butterflies used. Does it help to delete them? Yes! but it also kills your low end torque. The problem is the engine is getting to much air in lower rpm's that is why they stay closed until 3250 rpm's

you will be fine with a e-mail tune. They just have to adjust the fuel tabels a bit and turn off the IMRC's so you dont gete a CEL

Am I missing something, there are no IRMCs on the 2V engine?

However if there were you would lose low-end torque by removing them--what they do is improve charge velocity at lower air flows, benefitting emissions and power under those conditions.

So long as you are using the GT computer, then it won't fire a code for the IMRC's. Yeah, you lose some low end torque, but if you have gears and a stick shift, then it's not noticeable.

That makes sense! I could tell that he knew what they were and did, so figured I was missing something.

I would not disable the IMRCs on a street car, you can tune around some of the low-end loss but you can't get the charge velocity back...

You can buy delete plates still....

When I had my 98 cobra I was about to buy IMRC deletes and custom short runner intake. Guys were seeing pretty big power gains (after a tune)
