Default Diablosport diablo tune octane question...

Using a diablosport tuner, I put on the diablo tune because it's the only canned tune on it, also turned off the cat's. Problem is we only have 91 octane fuel around here so it's what I'm using. Is this gonna hurt the car? Or is quality 91 octane fine?

its fine.. Diablos timing adjustability is fairly lame. I doubt you would get pinging even with the timing maxed out.

as long as you dont hear something that sounds like marbles rolling around and hitting eachother, your good.

Sounds good. I would get a custom tune if the shops here didn't rip people off... I was looking at a pro-charged 98gt before I bought this car but one shop wanted $600 to tune and the other didn't wanna use the diablo chip in the car and wanted to make me convert to an sct chip and $500 to tune. I hate not having 93 octane in NE... oh well, I'll keep the diablo tune on and shell 91 octane in it. Hope it won't ping under heavy load.

Not sure where you looked to get a tune, but with Diablosport you can take your car to "The Shop Inc" and they will do a great job for you.

If you didn't have a tuner or chip already, $600 is a far price for around here. Obviously, if you have Diablosport and call a SCT shop they will tell you to get a SCT tuner or chip.

I know of one place in the Omaha area that has 93 octane but not in Lincoln.

You'll be fine with 91 octane. Everyone around he runs that or they go for the 100+ octane.

Sounds good, I just thought it sounded steep at $600 at one of the shops I called. It kind of swayed me from the pro-charged 98. The guy was running factory injectors and maf, figured by the time I bought injectors, maf, and had it tuned I would put more than I wanted into it, not to mention no PI swap or mods to the body at all.

Thats why I decided to do my own tuning. all I had to invest in is the software and a wideband o2 sensor.. I can tune my car anytime, anyday and it doesnt cost me a cent. FTW

I think it works just fine.. my friend also used the 91 octane fuel and nothing seems to be a problem.. but just be sure to observe your car if there's some difference going on like the quality of your run, the sound, etc..
