Default inspection question

anyone in tx (houston) ever have any issued with passing inspection with HIDs? ive seen many cars in the area with hids and was curious. would u think it would pass with a proper projector housing, keeping hi/low function, and aimed properly.

it is my understanding that any HID bulb in a halogen housing (meaning that from the factory it came with a halogen bulb), it is illegal.

so if the guy doing the inspection is a real stickler and by the book you should fail. if that is the case, just throw in halogens for the inspection to be safe

Tell him you got the premium package which incl. HIDs, test his knowledge lol. It is what I would do.

You might be okay with it, but I wouldn't chance it.

I don't see why they would be illegal, by putting better lights in your car, how is that illegal or unsafe, I mean I put HIDs in my car this winter so I could actually see at night... if I have problems in PA passing inspection this summer I'm just going to explode

if the car is clean it will pass. if your car looks like a civic they may be a bit more detailed in the inspection... I have them and it passed. Also have 20% all around and it passed... good luck.

The reason it is illegal, I believe, is that HID's are suppose to be in a special housing that does not let the bright light they emit into the oncoming drivers eyes.

I would try it. If not put halogens back in and then pass.
