inspection question
anyone in tx (houston) ever have any issued with passing inspection with HIDs? ive seen many cars in the area with hids and was curious. would u think it would pass with a proper projector housing, keeping hi/low function, and aimed properly.

it is my understanding that any HID bulb in a halogen housing (meaning that from the factory it came with a halogen bulb), it is illegal.
so if the guy doing the inspection is a real stickler and by the book you should fail. if that is the case, just throw in halogens for the inspection to be safe

I don't see why they would be illegal, by putting better lights in your car, how is that illegal or unsafe, I mean I put HIDs in my car this winter so I could actually see at night... if I have problems in PA passing inspection this summer I'm just going to explode

The reason it is illegal, I believe, is that HID's are suppose to be in a special housing that does not let the bright light they emit into the oncoming drivers eyes.
I would try it. If not put halogens back in and then pass.
