Default Save For Cobra or Tune the Mustang?

I am now on my third Mustang and I can't decide on what to do. I know this seems stupid but I figured I might as well get fellow Mustang fans opinions. I have a 2004 Mustang GT with only 22k miles in it. I got it about a month ago and love it, but I went to buy a few things the other day on eBay then stopped myself. I have always wanted a 03-04 Cobra, not to say "I own a Cobra" or any of that ****, but I just loved how fast and smooth those cars are for the money. I don't particularly care for the upped insurance premiums, premium gas, and expensive repairs that come with it though.

Here is where I am at, I am wondering, should I save my money and wait till I turn 25 (will in about a year and a half) and get the Cobra, or should I be content with where I am now and build a nasty GT? The more I think about owning a Cobra its all about performance, I don't care about the visual differences. Since I owned my 89 with a crate motor, that got me thinking, maybe I should just tune a regular GT and save money not keeping up a Cobra.

So a question for the Cobra owners, is it really worth the extra money for ownership? Are you really satisfied with it or would you be just as satisfied with a tuned GT? Now I don't want or need any kind of unholy beast! I would want something with around 350-400rwhp. I know the Cobras can easily make this and a LOT more, but I don't want insane speeds, just something that is going to trash C5s and keep up with C6s. What would you guys do? Would a Cobra really be worth the extra money, or should I just tune a Mustang, keep running costs low, save some money and possibly get a bike?

I would go Cobra for the performance-sound-look etc. Good luck with your choice.

Wow, thats quite overwhelming majority for a Cobra! Are the running costs of the car a LOT higher? I have talked to several owners and I keep hearing "the only thing it won't pass is a gas station" and "watch out for repairs". Apparently the SVT motors are quite expensive to work on. I'm really just concerned with money and performance for the most part.

You mean......is it worth it to "spend money you don't have, on parts you don't need, trying to impress people you don't know"?

Saw that is someones sig, thats the life of a GT owner and anyone else on this forum

I agree with the others.....the Cobra is a world different than the GT, even modded. I owned a 2004 GT as my first mustang, and I loved that car.....but I can't lie to you. The '03 Cobra is MUCH nicer.

Pretty much the same thing with the '06 GT and the '08 GT500 too..
