Default !Electrical Gremlins!

No sooner than I get one problem fixed with my Mustang another one comes up. Really getting tired of this car and I have only had it one month.

The turn signals quit working the other day, so I find that the fuse is burned out, no problem replace the fuse everything is great.

Now the domelight comes on when the headlight switch is on, and won't work any other time, nor do the other lamp switches unless the headlights are on.

Found another blown fuse for the GEM, and replaced it. Now the dash lights, dome lights, and parking lights are all on. And without the keys in the ignition it beeps as if I left the headlights on, but the headlights are not on. I even disconnected the headlight switch and still all the lights and dinging continue.

I eventually found that if I pushed the lock button on the key fob, with the doors closed, everything would turn off. As soon as the door is opened again, or the unlock button is pressed the park lights, dome light, and dash lights come back on with the headlight reminder dinging.

Any help???

p.s. tried searching for two hours and came up with nothing.

Here are the wiring diagrams for the courtesy lamps, maybe they can be of some help.

Is there any sort of after market "stuff" installed (alarms, audio, etc.)--it's not unusual for these sorts of things to mess up the GEM's operation when not installed properly...

I haven't owned that long, but there does not appear to be anything aftermarket in it right now. Stock key fobs and radio, but who knows what has been in it over the years.

Here are the interior lighting diagnostic routines. The GEM DTCs are listed.

could just be interference. Your speaker wire could be running close to the wire supplying power to the turn signals. That electricity can sometimes cause enough interference for you to be able to pick it up in your speakers.
