Default Any Advice on shifting faster???

So here's the deal I got my 5 speed stangalang about a month ago. I can drive around town find and if I am rolling and someone wants to f around on the highway I can get it in...but I am not good off the line at all, I can't shift fast from 1st to 4th...I kinda jerk the car a little (I heard that's somewhat normal with 5 speeds), I used to have an 01 GT vert and it was an AUTO so I'd just throw it into overdrive and of course it was smoooth the whole way through. Any advice on shifting faster from a stop?

Why would you want to shift the car fast from 1st to 4th?

I think they mean 1st thru 4th.

Its just simply stab clutch ram shifter into gear let go of clutch+mat the gas when changing gears while racing. Launching is something we all just have to practice first by applying the right amount of rpms via the gas pedal and knowing how to slip the clutch or dump it.

Well said. Every car with be different. Go out and practice launching your car at different rpms and slipping the clutch and dumping the clutch. Find what works best for you to where you are hooking up well.

Well when he said "1st to 4th" (instead of 1st thru 4th) it sounds like he's not talking about going thru any other gears lol. I'm sure you guys are right though.

...yes, that is one way but a short throw shifter isn't needed to still rip through gears.

A STS doesn't help the OP because he asked more about how to launch his car. He said he can shift fine.
