Default What fuel pump do I need?

I have a little cash and wanted gears BADDDLY, but then realized that I need a fuel pump. I have to switch the key to the on position unil the whine stops... and then fire up the car, otherwise the car will sort-of misfire if I try to accelerate. :/

I don't know much about fuel pumps, so I ask for assistance.

I have a 96 gt with shorties, o/r x-pipe, flows, ram clutch, nitto dr's, 04gt motor.
Soon, I plan on doing 3:73 or 3:90 gears.

Also, how much is he usual amount paid for labor?

i found this: http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv...695378890.html

any input would be nice

Well the stocker is all you need, but if you want to upgrade, a SVT Focus fuel pump would be a good choice. You can do the install yourself.

I looked up the whole process of dropping the fuel tank, and I simply don't think I have the mechanical skills to do it man.

A Focus pump is not gonna work on his return style setup
If you want to go bigger just get this http://www.summitracing.com/parts/VPN-GCA719-2/

thanks for that suggestion. I may just go with that pump. It can handle about almost triple the power I have so I'm okay.

Do you know how much is labor?

I'm looking at like $150/labor + $130/pump. thanks again

Another thing, why would I want to go with a bigger pump? Will I gain more performance? Will I use more fuel? Why not go with the stock lph the 04gt uses?

From what you have on your car you don't need a better flowing pump unless you have some sort of forced induction or nitrous.

If you're doing this in the future though you might as well put the better pump in now.

Yea, just go for the in-tank pump because ive heard the external pumps are noisier than in tank. Just saying since i think your car is a DD.
