Default HEEEELLLP!

So Im gonna try and bring you guys up to speed on what ive got here.

Sorry it's so long.

About 2 weeks ago I bought my first mustang, a 99 GT with a 4.6/ Auto.

The only warranty they had was 30 day 25% parts/labor. I own a tire shop

and i have an ASE cert. mechanic, so I just bought it as is, and thought i

negotiated a pretty good deal. What's the worst that could happen, right?

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

fast forward about 5 days later, it started to overheat, and I tracked that

down to be just a radiator cap. Simple enough. Well, I took care of that, and

the next day i drove it, and started to smell oil. Crap. Put it on the lift, and

After about a half a friggin hour of searching, I found it coming out of the

right side cylinder head. Joy.

Anyway, it's just about back together with new gaskets, bolts and all the

goodies, and one of my mechanics friends told him that if he doesn't use

some special ford tool to pressurize the oil system, it'll grenade as soon as i

start it. Soooo, is this true? Should i buddy up with the local ford dealer?

Take her out back and put her down? any advice at all would be appreciated!

I never heard of that either. What happens when you let the car sit overnight? or change the oil? It's not pressurized then either and you don't need a special tool. Just fire it up.

Update: Okay, So i went to the ford garage and the head tech told me i have nothing to worry about. He says he's done plenty of them and never heard of such a thing. I guess im just being cautious.

Well, i'll let you guys know how it turns out!

And Devongarver, I live about 18 miles Northwest of Stuebenville/Werton WV.

Nice, i went to school in Oakdale, PA and a few of my friends are actually not far from you. One lives in Cadiz, and the other in Hopedale. Thats west of Steubenville about 10-15 minutes. You must be near mechanicstown or carrolton?

Do you ride atvs? Thats about all we did back then, great riding area down there!

Yeah hopedales 15 minutes away, I can make it there in about 8 if im in a hurry lol Chances are they've been to my shop. Ask them if they've heard of Laney Tire. Carrolton's about the same distance as stuebenville from me, just in the opposite direction. yeah ridin is about all there is to do around here, lol
