Max Side Wall

Max Side Wall
I just picked up an 03 GT coupe in mint condition with only 30K on the clock. It has the stock bullitt wheels with 245/45/17's. I know this is completely opposite what everyone wants to do but I am an old school guy and I just never bought into the low profile evolution, inspite of the increased performance these tires can offer. I just like the look of meat on the wheel and would like to increase the side wall dimension but practical applications are limited. There are 245/50's and 255/50's out there but the increase is very minor. In looking at tire charts I found that the best I could do would be a 235/55 which still only gives me 3/4 of an inch increase. There are no 245/55's on the market that I could find. Would I really loose much by going to the 235's? I do not plan on serious power increases, just a cold air intake and other minor applications.
Thanks

You really want to stay with a 26" tall tire unless you plan on recalibrating your spedometer. You could go with a 15" or 16" rim, then run a higer profile tire, I have 275/50 15s
