PROBLEM CHANGING PLUGS
I need some help. Im trying to re-torque my spark plugs to 12 ft/lbs and it seems like its not possible to do.... I keep getting to the bottom of the plug well without any resistance and then it just stops turning! Any help?
I have a torque wrench measuring inches, not feet, so im setting it to 144 in/lbs.... I need some help you guys bc my cars all apart at my house.....

Can you better describe "...keep getting to the bottom of the plug well without any resistance and then it just stops turning!"
Is the socket you are using to torque the plugs the same that you used in remove and install them? If not are you sure it is not too big in diameter to fit properly in the well?
Can you feel the socket seating on and engaging the spark plug? If you are using a micrometer type torque wrench do you know what it feels/sounds like when the set torque is reached? The 1/4" drive wrench I use has a very subtle "click" that can be easily missed if you do not specifically pay attention.
If you are not certain what to expect from the torque wrench use something on your work bench, or another fastener someplace, and get a feel for what it feels like when the set torque is reached...
Also, I understand your anxiety, however not having any response after only 22 minutes--at lunch time--is hardly reason to start calling the forum members to task...

haha calling all mustangs!
did you strip it? when you place the plugs in, you said that it just stops turning after it spings freely for a second? Are you sure the plug is seated into the threads correctly? Is it one specific plug or all of them?

haha sorry clifffy. I was in the middle of doing it and it was about to rain outside!! Anyways, im an idiot is the moral of this thread! I was scared to tighten it past any resistance but i got the ***** to, got about a quarter of a turn and it clicked... 144 in/lbs. So I did the rest no problem... I was just to terrified due to the recent probs ive had with my spark plugs (2 shooting out within 3 months)
Also, cliff I just got done customizing my shift boot to fit like yours. Looks ALMOST as good, but bc i didnt make a new one, but rather altered my existing one, it doesnt look quite as good, but i still LOVE it.
