Default dyno time.

Well here in the next few weeks i think ill be going to get dyno tuned. Since my 6 speed came with an eairlier VSS instead of OSS style sensor, i need to have them dick around in the computer so my speedo will work right. But saddly sounds like they have to basically write me a tune in order to fix that, which means ill lose my super tune from sct....not that it was super great or anything but hey every little bit counts. So i just figured shell out a bit more and have them write me a tune from scratch. It should be much better than the canned tune. Any ideas what a dyno tune in N/A form will do? Im guess not much since i dont have heads or cams...And anything i should have them do while im there?

A good dyno tune will improve over that sct canned tune. The tune that comes with the sct is a pretty good file but it isn't designed for your car with your specific mods. Every car responds a little differently to mods and tuning.

You can have them write you a 2-step while they are at it.

This would be neat especially since you like to race!

Let us know how it goes and post some numbers!

I personally love the SCT two-step. I have the "custom Bama Tuning" on mine, although not as great as an actual 2-step. Unlike a true 2-step you can't jush mash the gas to the floor as it will "bounce" off the rev limiter with a range of 800-1,000 rpm and is not very consistent that way. I have found to be the most effective if you just apply just enought throttle to just be barely on the rev limiter, and it takes the bounce down to just 50-100 rpm.

The whole point of a 2-step is so that you don't have to worry about holding the throttle at or near a specific rpm for the launch

Excellent point LOL!!! But it's included with the Tuner so I didn't have to buy a seperate module. Until I get a little more serious about racing it works great for me.

Personally for under $200, the MSD unit is great, it's what I'm running. I believe I've heard several complaints in the past about the SCT 2-step, so rather than use it, I went with a unit that I've heard very good things about.

I agree it is better, but it is not a necessity for me yet. Just curiosity how does the MSD install???

I thought it was pretty easy. I don't recommend setting it to the clutch switch like they say you can. I didn't even try. I set it up to ground with a toggle switch, later down the road I'll buy on of the pistol shifters with the button.

i already have a two step, so far its really only to sound cool and make burnouts hard, lol its a little challenging to do a 3rd gear burnout when you can only get 3k rpm without moving. I will have them put one in the tune, but im hoping the give me much bigger end user adjustment so that i can turn it off, or at least way up to like 5k....
