I am happy with 3:73 I think 4:10 are not for DD... at around 60mph I am at 2k RPM and if I drive for a long time at that speed/RPM my head start to hurt for so much exhaust noise. and I use a LOT more gas... compared to my stock geared 97GT

Driving like a jackass everywhere will give you bas gas mileage no matter what rear end gear you have. I had no problem getting 25mpg on the highway with 4.10s, and my city MPG went up because I could use 5th all the time.

Again, I dont see a valid argument to justify 3.73s over 4.10s, save for the trap speed argument.

Why not split the difference and go with a 3.90 gear

well i thought about going with 3.90's but i prefer to use FRPP gears and they do not offer a 3.90 gear. FRPP has a reputaion of less gear whine and a better gear.

I did 4.10s but, went to 3.73s instead. If you have an automatic, the high rpms will make you feel like your stuck in third, like it needs to shift to a higher gear.

I believe Motive makes the gears for FRPP...I'd go with 3.90's...Motive makes them!

I like my 3.73's, My friend has a 02 GT with the same mods as me (practically none) but has 4.10's. His car is fun and the excel is great but I prefer my 3.73's for daily commute, Its all in preference really. OP try and drive cars with both gears then make your decision.
