Question Brake

Ok when ive pressed the brake pedal hard going down hill i feel like a steel rod is being dragged across the tar like a grinding type feel. The is NO squeeking like brake pads are low..even though im replacing them soon. And the brake pedal after the car has been running also sounds like the spring flexing for the brake pedal but this is a 2003 car so naturally things work themselves in and stuff. Firestone told me the rotors at least the front was bad..not enough to be machined. Im replacing rotors and the pads with performance version but done anyone have any ideas why id get the pulsating feeling when i push the brake ledal hard?

thank you

Sounds to me like you have a pad that is completely shot and the backing plate is dragging on the rotor...

What he said.... may have a caliper stuck engaged that wore down just one pad.

Happened to a friend of mine who never did proper maintenance on his car, and I agree with everyone about the cause, it sounds like pad is completely gone and your just eating away at the rotor and steel backing plate.

It makes a lovely crunching and grinding sound as it cuts up the rotor.
