Default Stock GT Hood Scoop

How is the stock hood scoop on my 02 gt attached? Can it be removed from the hood easily? I know the side scoops are just held on by clips or whatever is the hood scoop held on the same way? Mines faded and I'd like to get it repainted and not have to get the whole hood repainted...thanks

Take the hood liner off and you'll see the screws holding the scoop on. Ford also used double sided tape so you'll have to remove that also. When I removed my scoop the tape had lost all of it's stickiness so all I had to do was remove the nutts holding the scoop on and remove the scoop.

I have been debating removing the scoop on mine. I don't like the fact that it's not functional and it always holds onto soapy water when I clean the car. a couple miles down the road, I have streaks going down the hood like my car is drooling

^^ When I wash my car at home, I use an electric leaf blower to get the water out of the hoodscoop (and all those other little areas that hold water like under the spoiler pedestals), or when I go to the coin-op pressure washer place I use the vacuum to suck the water out of the fake honeycomb grille panel. Both work pretty well.
