What kind of transmission fluid am i supposed to purchase for a mustang gt?

I have a 2000 mustang gt, manual, basically stock.

I will be going to auto zone tommorow to buy some but i have no clue which one to get.. sorry this is my first time ever doing this!

I used Mobil1 synthetic ATF. Yes...you use automatic transmission fluid in a manual transmission.

 

I loved Mobil 1 synthetic ATF in my T45. I will be putting it in my 4r70w also.

 

Royal Purple for the transmission

 

I put in royal purple but cliffyk said he used mobil 1 and said it was noticibly better than the RP as well as a little bit cheaper. I'd go with mobil one its what I'm going to put in there next.

 

fyi total capacity is 3.1 liters (about 3 1/4 quarts)

 

Alright thanks everyone. So I'm going to get mobil 1synthetic auto trans mission fluid 3 quarts of it. Even tho my car is manual I get auto transmission fluid?

You will like the Mobil 1 ATF. I noticed a much better improvement in shifting and overall feel for the gears.

 

You need 3.3 qts for your T-45, you'll have to buy 4--good news is you'll only need 3 next time, and the M1 ATF is a great all round lubricant for squeaky hinges and the like...
