Default K&N Intake Installation

I am in the process of installing a K&N intake on my 02 GT. Just curious, what is the reason for disconnecting the battery cable before doing the swap? The instruction sheet requires that.

Why question simple instructions? Its not time consuming to disconnect the battery.

You have to reset the KAM on te PCM so the computer can relearn the new airflow readings.

Yep. Keep Alive Memory, as silly as it sounds is what needs reset. Things will not run as smoothly for you if you do not disconnect the battery. It's not going to be a catastrophy or anything, but just do it.

Somehow misplaced my 8mm wrench. I have every other size from 7 to 20mm except for that size.
