Default Weight Distribution Calculations for NE GT vert Owners

This thread pertains to all my new edge vert owners. I did some calculations here at work that show what needs to be done to get your vert as close to a 50/50 WD ratio without drastically modifying your ride(meaning going tubular bumpers and such).

I started off with the official curb weight of the vert(this is for a 2001, but should be the same, or damn close to it for all models in 99-04GT)

Curb weight= 3249lb
Gross Vehicle Weight= 4490lb(loaded with passengers)

Stock WD: Front= 58% Rear= 42%

Now the fun part's. I wanted to know what my new WD ratio was from my IRS swap, so I figured it out to be:

Front: 56.7% Rear: 43.3%

Not bad, but it could be better. Look what happens when you do a battery relocation!

WITH IRS: Front=54.44% Rear= 45.56%

WITHOUT IRS: Front= 55.7% Rear= 44.3%

Now, if you do a full k-member, a-arm and front coil over swap... check this out.

With IRS: Front= 55.3%

WITHOUT IRS: Front= 56.6%

Pretty neat huh? Im sure there is probably some degree of error there in teh since of not all cars are the same and people do different mods that add different amounts of weight, but this gives you a good idea of how much performance you will get out of these mods. I think the huge winner here is the k-member/battery swap. The IRS really help lower it though.

Any who, if there is interest in knowing the coupes numbers let me know. it didnt take that long to figure it out. Its a slow day at work today. lol

EDIT: made a mistake on calculating k-member numbers! I forgot to take off 100lbs to the overall weight also, not just the front. Numbers get bumped up a LOT!!!!

Damn, i thought the IRS would have helped out the ratio more than that. Oh well...coilovers are being ordered shortly!!! tubular k might be next summer.

The problem is yes, your adding wight to the back... but your not removing any from the front.

I think the battery relocation yields the biggest bang for the buck in terms of performance of probably any mod lol.

Im just gonna leave the battery up front. And which tubular k and a arms are you using for your comparison? Is it the UPR or MM?

Most k member/a-arm/coil over packs will take off about 100lbs all said n done. even if all you get is 75lbs all said n done thats only about 1/3rd of a percent.

Technically this is all "theoretical" given so many variables as far as weight, but i think they are a good set of numbers to go off of.

very interesting hoss in terms of figures. Verts are approximately 3250 pounds I thought they were like 3500 plus? I got my battery in the trunk due to my aftercooler but you won't notice difference in corner unless your really pushing your car in the corners.

All my weight/WD data I gathered from a program we use at my engineering firm to calculate forces from cars/trucks in auto accidents. Its pretty accurate.

That makes me really interested in moving the battery, I never realized it would be that effective in helping f/r balance. The only thing that sucks is trunk space is already at a premium in my car due to a sub enclosure w/ two 10"'s. In theory, though, the enclosure which probably weighs about 50 lbs. should help out my f/r weight distribution I suppose
