To make it to 550-600rwhp, you need forged everything, heavily ported PI heads or TFS heads(ported or unported or Type-R when they come out), blower cams, T-trim, SCT BA3000 MAF, probably twin GT pumps in a cobra tank with a Fore Precision fuel hat, larger fuel lines, 60-72lb injectors, longtubes, new clutch(McLeod street twin would be a good choice to handle the power with a streetable feel), fully built transmission(a T56 might be in order?) with a 26 spline input shaft, might need 33 spline axles then as well if youre gonna be launching the car super hard. And then when thats all done, you'll take it to the track just to find out you need to cage the car. lol

Teej your wealth of knowledge is f'n depressing. "Ohh so after you just spent 10 thousand dollars to get from high 11's to mid 10's, turn right back around to the bank and the shop and drop another 1500 on a custom roll cage" Jesus H. Christ, sometimes I wish I had basketweaving as a hobby....LOL

You can get pre-made cages from MM for less than $500 and I dont think it would be a grand to install, but I could be wrong. And you probably wont need the $500 cage, maybe the $300 cage would suffice. I dont know what the regs are.

I know I just said 1500 but I vaguely recall 99PONYGT with his big block 460 build mention that his custom cage painted flat black was around 1500.

There's definitely some overkill in that post if the goal is really 550-600rwhp..........

Maybe overkill but consider redundancy when your pushing that much torque/HP.You'd hate to scattter a stock crank doing around 8ooo rpms about 60ft out of the hole.

I built this Thing a few years back with an all aluminum Indy engine running 9's nothing but overkill but safe.I sold it it scared me pretty bad.

Yeah, I wasn't so much talking about the crank as much as the "need" for heavily ported or TFS heads, 33 spline diff + axles, entirely new fuel system, mcleod twin disc clutch, etc.....

And 8,000 rpm???? How about a rev limiter LOL
