Default What intake manifold should I get?

2000 Mustang GT, small bolt-on's but pretty much what I'd consider stock. What intake manifolds would fit my car to replace this not so reliable stock plastic one? Power is of course always nice, but I have a feeling it's not worth the money. So is there an intake manifold that will fit my car that's a resonable price?

I saw this guy, and this might sound dumb... but I'm new to these cars so you'll have to excuse me. Will this bolt right onto my car without a head swap of some sort? I saw "great for PI head swap", but does that refer only to the older 4.6's? If I understand this correctly the 99-04 already have PI heads, so I don't have to worry about that, correct? Lastly does it actually offer any power increases, or is it more to prevent another cracked manifold?

It will bolt on to your 2000, it offers no power increase as it's just an after market clone of the later model PI manifold that has the aluminum crossover--I.e. it's the same as what your have except it has the aluminum crossover. You will need the newer generator bracket.

With free shipping that's a good deal, the Dorman after market (which AM's offering probably is) manifold sells for over $200 ($220 to $230) at most FLAPS.

Dont waste money on an intake unless your going to put cams in that will take advantage of the intakes powerband. And as Cliff said, thats just a PI intake that you linked.

He's got a 2000 so it's already PI--the after market manifold just upgrades him to the aluminum crossover...

Nonsense, I've got 100k on my OEM manifold with the aluminum crossover--and Dorman is an OEM manufacturer for Ford.

My brother put a Dorman manifold on his '99 GT at 45k miles (when the OEM manifold failed) he has 140k on the car now, 85k on the Dorman manifold.

If you have the full plastic PI manifold (1999 to sometime in 2001) it's problem waiting to happen...

That is stock for you...just has the aluminum coolant crossover. Get the aluminum ford racing manifold if you want something metal.

HOSS seriously??? Have you been living under a rock? Are you not aware of the problems the plastic crossover intakes have had for years? There is a reason they went to an aluminum crossover.....cause the plastic one kept failing. Sure, the aluminum one can and has cracked, but nowhere near as often as the plastic. Plastic crossover = time bomb

WTF are you talking about? When did I say that my intake was ultra bad ***? All I said was i have 100k+ on mine and its fine.. I know they suck.. but the aluminum crossovers crack to... search for it. hell just a few months ago someone with a 2003 or 2004 posted about his cracking.

Its no secret that the PI intakes are hit and miss.. it doesnt matter what revision it is. Hell there are some ppl who boost the **** out of their pi intakes and still cant blow em out.
