Not so much the power level (naturally if running BIG power you should switch) but the type of tires. If you are gonna run M/T drag radials or slicks it would be advisable to switch to 31 spline

If youre planning on going fast in a straight line...get them. Doesnt matter if you have power or not, if you hook hard enough youre gonna snap them stock 28's. So get them. lol

They are stronger, but you are very limited on differential choices for those. There are also 35 splines as well but even fewer choices for differentials yet. Also the 35's and i think the 33's as well are a pretty tight fit in our axle tubes but they do fit.

Going to 31 spline would be a good idea when you start really "shocking" the rearend. That usually happens when you run sticky tires. Jeremy, since you have an auto (stock converter) and don't have a trans brake you could get away with running MTs longer than other people could because when you are ready to launch your preloading the rearend (by footbraking) so when you floor it you aren't "shocking" the rear as much as a 5 speed guy would or someone on a transbrake. "Shocking" the rear is what kills your rearend.

33 spline would be better than 31 when you are serious about the track, running big slicks and are pushing quiet a bit of power. You would be just fine with 31 spline.

stock IMO.buddy had an 01 bullitt. bought it at 30k miles, drove the living crap out of the car. at 120k he opened up the rear to put some 3.73's in and spider gears pretty much fell into his hands. never had a sticky tire on there at all. they will be my next mod lol
