Rear end FULL after only 2 qts!!

so i decided to change the rear end fluid today and got to the filling part and the oil began coming out after a 4oz bottle of f/m and 2 qts of oil..... WTF could be going on???

..... i was told it would take about 3.25 qts of gear oil???

Mine only took 2 qts. But if you are worried, cap it at 2 qts and go drive it around for a few min, then recheck the level. Make sure you are on level ground when you are checking the fluid level.

It's 4.25 pints of oil, or 2 quarts + 4 ounces (1/4 pint) of friction modifier--if bone dry, on a refill it's a bit less as you found.

The 7.5" axle on the 6-banger takes 3.25 pints...
