Default 98 GT Oil Capacity

I know it says 5 quarts, but I have to put 6 in to see it on the stick?? Am I missing something or does the 98 4.6 SOHC take 6 quarts with the motorcraft oil filter??

Someone may have changed the dipstick to the 2002+ unit. Ford changed the recommended engine fill in late 2001 from 5 to 6 qts in response to 3rd party tests that revealed oil starvation during high-G turns.

The only changes were the recommended quantity and the dipstick...

6 quarts here. 6 and a half to get all the way to the full mark.

Are you sure it's "full", nor "max"?

Most of Ford's dipsticks are (actually were) marked:

(end if stick)
MIN-->oXXXXXXXXXXXo<--MAX

where "full" is in the middle.

The newer ones are marked:

(end if stick)
oXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX| o

"full" is still in the middle...

It's probably max. I am just used to chevrolets saying full.
