Default I know this isn't exactly the place, but...

I was offered a 95 GT (5.0, 5 speed) with 230k miles for $2000. The body isn't stellar but not beaten down, has an ugly *** hood with rusty hood pins, and needs paint. The interior wasn't exactly well taken care of, but can be salvaged.

If I bought it, I'd totally overhaul everything and make it a twisty monster that looks like a brand new car on the outside, but inside would probably have a roll bar, race seats, no back seat, etc.

Does this seem like a decent deal, or should I just stay away and keep saving for a Mach 1?

I wouldn't even think about it. So you want to buy a beaten 15 year old car that needs probably 7-9k on top of purchasing for 2k? I'd save for the Mach if you are set on that.

If you don't mind that body style you could make the 95 a much better track car before you even come close to the cost of a Mach 1. Throw money into suspension, a PI swap and get your tranny rebuilt and you have a solid twisty car, at least better than a stock Mach 1 IMO

Why would you do a pi swap in a car that's got a 5.0?! If you buy it, build a 347 stroker high compression with some stout heads and a nice high rpm cam. That ought to be good for 450-500hp or so. Then do your sra suspension and tubular k and a decent trans and then focus on everything else.

If he said 500 for it than maybe it be good for a roller project but i dont know where the hell hes getting 2000 from? Its not even like the motor and trans are new. I would pass on this and save for the mach.

HAHAHA just saw teejs post as well. Even though I guess technically mines a 5.0 pi swapped cause its a bored and stroked 281 but the 5.0 the OP is talkin about is a completely different motor wannabe... If i were to do it i would do what teej said. Or maybe even something bigger than that! Im more of a drag guy than i twisty guy though. Sorry JAzzer....

My bad Teej...I typically associate a NPI with SN95s. I forgot the 94-95 come with the 5.0, even though he said it was a 5.0 is his OP lol

DAMN, that 5.0 will make 450-500 N/A? That has my attention. I am afraid I am just being impatient and wanting a project though.
