Default 4.6 to a 5.4, is there a sticky??

What is entailed in a.6 to a 5.4 swap? Is there a write-up somewhere? There is no replacement for displacement!

depends on what your goals for the car are man, a 5.4 V8 swap will probably only yield 275-290 horse....Are you look for 350? 400? 600? There are far more cost efficient ways to achieve a higher horsepower goal....

moddedmustangs.com and search for threads started by a guy named 330cubegt. its a very good writeup for swapping in a 2v 5.4L.

HOWEVER, you need to know, that doing the 5.4 2v swap is going to cost you quite a bit of money for very little power gain over a PI 4.6L.

that motor is only rated for 260hp and 350tq stock (compared to 260/300 on a PI gt). unless your doing a 3 or 4v dont waste your money IMO. the only reason i would ever do this swap is if i found the motor dirt cheap in running condition, or my motor was blown.

if your motor is still running strong, a cheaper and easier option would be just to PI swap your car. the only difference at that point is less than 50tq since your compression will be higher than a standard PI gt. you can buy everything you need for a PI swap for a few hundred bucks. the 5.4 motor, manifold, and whatever else you end up buying you can spend 2000$ or more.

Or you could just buy my mustang which already has a 5.4 2v swapped into it... fantastic, just stop on by with the money and she's all yours!

You get added torque, but you lose any chance of cheap intakes and exhaust. Plus your hood has to be right. With the HPS intake, you can see a serious increase in power over that 260/350. Everyone I have ever talked to that did the 5.4L swap didn't regret it. Moddedmustangs.com is the place, 330cubegt has a writeup and sharkbait just did the swap.

A guy over at Modular Ford swapped in a STOCK '04 Navi motor with Cobra headers and I believe the Boss intake. Guy made like ~325/360. Not bad for a stock Navi motor.

Edit: Exact numbers were 325/370 with the Aussie Boss intake
