Default auto wont shift

i started my car yesterday and noticed immediately the trans was messed up. it would not shift into second until i let off the gas and waited a couple seconds. then it did the same thing going from second to third. if i stay on the gas, it will not shift, the rpms will just sky rocket. i checked the fluid when i got to work and there is plenty. so any ideas?

Do you have tranny fluid in the car? Check your fluid levels and report back. When you put your car into drive does it take a while to engage and move forward? If so check your fluids.

no its good. it will shift ok from 1st to 2nd if i do it manually but it still acts up when going from 2nd to 3rd, i have to let off the gas in order for it to shift when i push it into drive. apparently im looking at like $1500 minimum to get a rebuild and labor. this sucks lol.

so someone told me there is a vacuum line that goes from the motor to the trans and this will effect the way the trans shifts if it is broke or comes loose. my moms husband said he thought he could hear a vacuum leak but couldnt find it but he was looking in the engine... anyone else heard of this?

The only thing that connects to the trans from the motor is the trans harness. The trans cooler lines run from the trans to the radiator/cooler. I don't understand what they mean by a vacuum leak.

A rebuild with labor shouldn't cost you a minimum of $1500. I got my 4r70w quoted for $1100-1200 shipped from Alan at DirtyDog Performance that he guarantees for a year and says will hold 700ft lbs and spin to 7000rpm no problems.

None of this makes sense though. Auto trans', atleast the 4R70W don't just go poof overnight. There is always a gradual problem such as shuddering, slipping or dropping gears before it really goes bad. Surely you have been having some symptoms. At least you know your OD band is good if it shifts 1-2 manually fine. The manual 1-2 actually uses the overdrive band. The OD band is the most common failure of high mileage 4R70Ws so I dont get how its ok but something else is severely effed.

Dude you can get a 4R70 shipped to your door for pretty damn cheap through eBay, from sellers with great track records. Compared to what I see in other cars though, 207k is quite impressive, especially being in a sports car.

I'm with Hangwire, though; if it were ****ting its pants I'd expect it to fart some first.
